Jobs with Justice began building labor-community coalitions nearly two decades ago to support workers’ rights to organize collectively, to gain respect in the workplace, and to bargain for fair contracts that guarantee good wages, good benefits, and job security. Workers are fighting for these basic rights more than ever today and the Jobs with Justice Workers’ Rights Board continues to stand in solidarity with and in support of these struggles.
Our Workers’ Rights Board is made up of over 100 influential members of the community, including elected officials, clergy, community leaders, philanthropists, academics and lawyers who are committed to defending and promoting economic human rights and workplace justice. The Workers’ Rights Board organizes activities and events that directly support active worker organizing and contract campaigns. The Board also works to articulate the shortcomings of the current legal and policy framework for workplaces and economic development in New York, to develop alternatives to this framework and to realize these alternatives in law and practice.
The Workers’ Rights Board also hosts an event each year to recognize important efforts toward workers’ rights by worker leaders and workers’ rights advocates.
