Help us build a sustainable base of support

Continuous contributions, no matter how small, add up for organizations like ours. Contribute 1) on a monthly basis or 2) in a lump sum annually. You choose—either way, your contribution is critical for increasing our impact in New York City.

THE CHALLENGE

In these days of worldwide confusion, there is a dire need for men and women who will courageously do battle for truth. --Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

It is a difficult moment to be battling for truth in this country. We face disgraceful, unchecked corporate power. We face an emboldened, seemingly fearless conservative movement. The prevalent social and economic agendas of the day often seek to reverse decades of advances by our predecessors. They forecast aggressive changes in policy and government that were unthinkable in the mainstream only ten years ago.

OUR RESPONSE

We must be more discerning about the work we’re doing. At NY Jobs with Justice, we have taken a critical look at our work and have made tough choices about to prioritize and what to leave behind as we respond to the challenge posed by corporate and conservative interests. We have chosen to focus our efforts through three strategic imperatives:

  1. Ambitious Public Policy. We must develop and win ambitious, ideologically-driven public policy campaigns to counter the ideological and political challenge posed to us. NY JwJ is currently organizing to expand health care access and to generate better economic development in our communities.
  2. Scope & Scale. We must reach and organize more people. NY JwJ has developed NY VOTE, a voter education and mobilization program in collaboration with a number of community organizations throughout the City. The program seeks to increase issue awareness and electoral participation in poor and low-income communities and in communities of color and build the basis for a multi-sector movement-building approach to mobilizing the grassroots vote.
  3. Political Consciousness. We must build an activated base and re-generate new leadership for social and economic justice in this country and particularly in this City. NY Jobs with Justice is working with and within community organizations, congregations, and labor unions to reclaim the “moral majority” of this country and build a progressive core of leaders dedicated to social change in our communities.

YOUR RESPONSE

Whatever else you may be doing to support and build power for our movement, we ask that you do just one more thing: contribute to NY Jobs with Justice. We’ve grown tremendously in the last two years and are working hard to become a powerful voice for social and economic justice in New York City. With just a little more support, we can make a much greater impact.

Every dolloar makes a difference, so we’ve created the JwJ Circle of Activists to allow you to give a little—or a lot—according to your means. Click here to make a contribution. If you have questions, give us a call at 212.631.0886 (ext 5639).
