FUREE - Families United for Racial and Economic Justice is a multiracial, woman led membership organization made up of low-income and no-income workers. FUREE is organizing to affect the welfare system so that all people's work is valued and all people have the right to not only choose their own destinies but to earn the economic means to live out those destinies.
LAIC - The Latin American Integration Center (LAIC) was established in 1992 as a non-profit and non-partisan community based organization. For over one decade, LAIC has worked to strengthen New York City’s low-income Latin American communities. Since its inception, LAIC has helped more than 12,000 immigrants become American citizens and serves an estimated 1,500 immigrants in Queens and Staten Island every year through its wide array of services.
Make the Road by Walking - Make the Road by Walking is a membership-led organization based in Bushwick, Brooklyn whose members are primarily low-income Latino and African-American residents of Bushwick and surrounding communities. Make the Road promotes economic justice and participatory democracy by increasing residents' power to achieve self-determination through collective action.
NYCAHN - The New York City AIDS Housing Network is the nation's only membership organization comprised and led by low-income people living with HIV/AIDS. Their mission is to empower low-income people living with HIV/AIDS to organize communities to advocate for more housing, better housing and sound public policies for people living with HIV/AIDS. NYCAHN seeks to increase the democratic participation of their members and build their power in order to bring about real social change.
NYCPP - In accordance with its fundamental mission of empowering immigrant workers to fight for change at the neighborhood and city-wide levels, the Project takes on campaigns at each of these levels. Local campaigns are decided by the neighborhood committees through a process of power analysis and intense discussion, while citywide campaigns are chosen based on the priorities identified in the course of community work.
NWBCCC - Northwest Bronx Community Clergy Coalition's mission has been to unite area clergy and residents in both housing development and neighborhood improvement activities to stabilize and improve the quality of life for all residents of the Northwest Bronx. The NWBCCC joins the efforts of ten independent grassroots neighborhood associations in the Northwest section of the Bronx.
